John Grey

Do you have a favorite line or lines from your accepted pieces for The Ginger Collect?

“I could go on and on/but my body can’t/it’s only six foot long/six foot two at the blackout”

Who is your most influential writer? Who do you always go back to for inspiration?

Tough question. In the horror field, I’m a big fan of Algernon Blackwood.

What inspired your pieces?

There was more a direct connection between inspiration and finished product when I first started out writing. These days, ideas just pop into my head and I go with them.

What do you want readers to take away from your pieces?

A sense of dread.

Do you find writing invigorating or exhausting?

Both and often at the same time. But, to be honest, there’s nothing more exhausting to my conscience than not writing.

What is your ideal writing environment?

My study. I’m the kind of writer who’s only ever happy creating in the one space.

What season do you find you write the most in?

I write every day so all seasons apply equally. My study can be something of a sweatbox in summer however.

Do you keep any snacks around while you write? If so, what’s your favorite?

No.

Do you ever create soundtracks for the pieces you’re writing?

No.

Do you have any future writing plans?

I plan to write more short stories.
