What inspired your piece?
I had the image of a body being unzipped at the spine, that’s where the poem started.

Who is your most influential writer? Who do you always go back to for inspiration?
There are too many to name one. I’m really enjoying Jacqueline Saphra’s poetry at the moment.

What do you want readers to take away from your piece?
I hope readers can relate to the feeling of falling apart.

Do you find writing invigorating or exhausting?
Invigorating. I have to avoid writing late at night as I find it hard to sleep otherwise.

Do you keep any snacks around while you write? If so, what’s your favorite?
Tea and biscuits!

What is your ideal writing environment?
I’d love a sunny room overlooking a garden. As it is, my bedroom will have to do!

Do you have any future writing plans?
Many. I’m new on this journey, I envisage a life full of writing.

You can read Elisabeth Alain’s piece “Undone” in Issue Five of The Ginger Collect.
